Our Community

Kimball is an ideal place to raise a family where traditional values and quality education are important. We are located in the southwest corner of the Nebraska Panhandle, 55 miles from Cheyenne, Wyoming, and 150 miles from Denver and the Rocky Mountains.

Denver International Airport (DIA) is approximately 2 ½ hours drive. Kimball is strategically located at the crossroads of Interstate 80 and Highway 71. We believe Kimball provides the best of both worlds: safe, small-town living with the conveniences of a nearby big city.

Kimball boasts one of the finest 18-hole golf courses around. Oliver Reservoir is located just 8 miles west of town and is a popular place during the summer months. Easy access to Interstate 80 makes Kimball a popular stop on the traveling vacation route.

The local economy primarily revolves around agriculture, oil and gas, and some manufacturing. Key employers include Kimball Public Schools, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, George Risk Industries, and Kimball Health Services.

Community Health Needs Assessment

Kimball County is actively participating in a broader initiative to enhance the general health status of all residents in the Nebraska Panhandle. The Kimball Health Services Community Health Improvement Plan 2024-2026 is a tangible outcome of these ongoing efforts.

Rooted in the KHS Community Health Needs Assessment, this plan serves as a roadmap for the local public health system, involving individuals, schools, hospitals, organizations, and communities to promote health.

The collaborative development of the Community Health Needs Assessment was largely facilitated by the Panhandle Public Health District. We extend our sincere thanks to them and our local focus group for their invaluable contributions to the development of these crucial documents.
