In December 2003, Kimball Health Services became the first “Basic Level Trauma Center” in Nebraska. Now there are 38 basic level trauma centers in Nebraska and we continue to maintain the education and equipment needed to meet that designation. We continue to improve practices and update equipment so we can provide the best care to our patients.
Emergency Medical Service (EMS) response in Kimball is provided by a partnership between Kimball Health Services, Kimball County and Regional West in Scottsbluff.
Regional West assists to maintain the proper educational level for our care providers. Kimball Health Services employs local citizens to assist driving the ambulance as well as EMTs and AEMTs, who assist the paramedics so we can maintain an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance. We promote education and training for our employees including guest speakers from Medical Center of the Rockies and others.
Trauma victims that need additional services can be transferred to Regional West or to UCHealth in Colorado. Helicopter transport and fixed wing services are available through Airlink located in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
